I am reporting from Maryland where there are no butterflies in January but the picture below was sent to me by a relative in Arizona. I was surprised to see a Monarch in Arizona in January. He is in Welton, AZ which is about 25 miles east of Yuma. I guess the butterfly decided not to make the trip to Mexico. Do Monarchs overwinter in Arizona?
