Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/08/2012

Number: 1

Rod and Joan Parrott report seeing one male monarch in their home for about a week, perhaps longer. The same male that appears to roost in a nearby oak tree when the nights are cool, and come to their garden to nectar on milkweed and other flowering plants when it warms up. They report that the temperature today reached 80 F, but in recent days, the area was hit by frost (i.e. 26 F) and much of the local vegetation was lost and now appears brown. Fortunately, they covered all of their garden plants and these survived.
