I was astonished this noontime, with fresh snow on the ground here in the far northern Berkshires of Massachusetts (five miles from the Vermont border), to find a monarch butterfly in nearly perfect condition on my front lawn, apparently frozen on the snow. He was not embedded, but looks as if he fell from the sky. The temperature is relatively warm at the moment -- about 38 degrees, and a front went through last night. I took pictures and also brought him inside just in case I could help him. I am mystified. Any thoughts or suggestions? I have more pictures, and the butterfly.
