The garden is aflutter with male Anna's today. Since our temperature has risen to only 23.5°F today and the few flowers have been he feeders killed by the frost, the hummers are hanging out at the feeders -- which freeze up about every half hour or so. it keeps me busy. The weather was supposed to warn up today, but didn't. I'm hoping it will do so tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll keep the nectar flowing. (I've gone through some fifteen pounds of sugar since this deep freeze started last Sunday.)
So where do those crazy males get the energy in this weather to chase each other away from the feeders and through the garden?
