Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 01/28/2012

Number: 1

I could not believe it but I did see a monarch butterfly. We have had an extremely warm winter here. The butterfly looked in great shape. Butterflies were laying eggs in this area as the were flying south in the fall. I still have milkweed in a section of my garden. I was seeing Gulf Fritallaries, Common Buckeye and Cloudless Sulfurs in December. I volunteer at a butterfly enclosure at the Discovery Museum at Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, SC.
