Maybe I cheated here, but I went outside today to do a little cleanup around the yard (it was a bit above freezing & cloudy). I pulled out some "forget me nots" & in the clumps of dirt that the roots were attached to were earthworms. No more than 2 inches below the surface. It's been a mild winter & the ground has not frozen up to this point (it may not either I suspect).
Should be interesting to see how things go from here.
