Robin (First HEARD singing)

Date: 02/05/2012

Number: 1

I first heard them singing and then saw several perched on tree branches! This is very early for our part of the state, but we haven't had much snow at all this winter.

I believe it was the territorial song. There were several in the tree branches and their singing is what directed my attention to them. We live very close to the woods and river and have lots of birds in this area. It was an exciting moment when I heard and saw them, as right afterward, a pair of large white birds flew very low overhead. I at first thought they were a pair of Sand Hill Cranes ( they fly over our house each year), but now I think it may have been a pair of swans. They were so low that I could heard the whooshing sound of their wings!
