For several days around January 19, I witnessed a large flock of robins (as well as a separate group of black birds, maybe starlings?) inhabiting the vacant lot across from my house, as well as the yards all around my house (which has barely a scrap of grass, so I think they stayed away). There were at least eighty robins, and they defecated everywhere. Here in Jackson, we've had a very mild winter, and I've seen worms wiggling in late November. I've never seen so many robins before and never more than robin at a time before Valentine's day, so I felt compelled to report this migration.
