I noticed a single male Robin pecking in the snow in backyard just before sundown this week. About an hour prior, I'd scattered freeze dried meal worms on a snow bank near the tree line for a Cardinal couple that regularly visits.
I've never seen a Robin this early in the season. We don't typically see Robins until May, here! There's still several inches of snow & ice covering the ground and the soil is frozen solid for at least 3 feet.
I've been tossing him fresh pomegranate, pieces of grapes, raisins & more freeze dried meal worms until the earthworms & grubs are readily available to him.
