Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/16/2012

Number: 1

My neighborhood still continues to have a large number of robins darting around. Many are now singing full songs. Every evening and early morning still large flocks cross the skies, probably 300-400. The 1000s I was seeing 2 weeks ago have diminished some as the berries they were after are nearly eaten up now. It is also 82 degrees today, a good reason for them to consider leaving soon. There was some rain the other day and many robins were enjoying taking baths and drinking from very accessible sources in the gutters and pooled water in driveways. This is also a very dangerous time for the robins. No one taught them to look left or right and they dart low to the ground across streets going from one lawn to another. One was hit and killed on my street yesterday. Flocks have definitely good features-safety in numbers. But, obviously, the concept fails when they all dart at once across streets.
