Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 02/22/2012

Number: 1

Out for an early morning walk from my house to check on one of my geocaches that I have hidden. As I approached the geocache, I heard the familiar sound of a robin singing. Found the robin one block south of me. The time was 6:30 am local- just before sunrise, clear sky, 31 degrees F, winds SW at 7MPH. It was in the highest branch of a small cluster of trees- about 35 feet high. After singing it made the cheee-cheee-cheee sound. The location is several blocks north from the mouth of the Fox River where it enters Lake Winnebago. The ground is still frozen but about 80% of the snow cover is gone. No other robins were spotted or heard during the one mile walk. Odd to see one this early. Spring can't be far away.
