It was a warm day in Folly Beach, SC. I was delighted to see 3 monarch butterflies swirling around a bush. I was on vacation from NJ and thought, "I won't see these for a few more months in my state!"
I was observing for at least 5 minutes. I was shocked to see them. I tried to take a picture but they were fluttering around too much.
I have taken a monarch class through EIRC in New Jersey and have taught classes in my school about Monarchs; collecting eggs from milkweed, watching them through various stages of the instar, through the chrysalis, etc. I assure you these were monarchs.
