Bald Eagles have been known to overwinter 6 or 7 kilometres away from where I live. Yet the first one I saw this winter was on Feb 3 as it flew over the partially open water of Oyster Pond directly in front of my house. The next day 2 soared overhead as one perched in a treetop across the road where it was pestered by a half dozen crows that frequent that area. Undaunted it sat perched and unflinching for almost 45 minutes before flying out of sight.
Since then I have sporadically seen 1 or 2 Bald Eagles flying by or soaring high overhead.
