Number: 1

Another cold and wet day, but the garden was abuzz with female and male Anna's hummingbirds--until hail (graupel) fell. As soon as the first ice pellets hit the trees the hummers vanished but reappeared when the hail turned to sleet and rain. They were very active at dusk. I wonder when the first rufous will reach us this spring.
