Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/03/2012

Number: 1

Just happened to be looking outside at my deck where the birds feed, noticed the unusual suspects, lots European Starlings dominating the feeding are, but wait was that a flash of Red. It was not one, but many male Red-winged Blackbirds amongst them. Hooray, my personal real sign of spring. I mean this year we've had Robins all winter due to the abundance of berries. To top it off there was even a male Grackle there too, his bright yellow eye in stark contrast to the snow. What a wonderful day!
