Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/27/2011

Number: 1

At around 5pm I was outside talking to my sister on my cell phone. It turned out to be a long talk of about 45 minutes. During that time I saw monarch butterflies high in the sky flying west/southwest. They were each flying separately, spaced out by a few minutes, but all traveling the same pathway above. I counted 12 and thought it was a very interesting sight. The weather was about to get very dramatic as a cold front was coming through just then. It started from 80 degrees F and in one hour was down to 65 degrees. Along with the monarchs, but much higher in the sky, was a large V-formation of ducks traveling south.
