Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/05/2012

Number: 1

Whooo! Whooo! Saw my first very faded monarch this evening at sunset out at my old Radar Base, TX house #15, 12 miles north of Eagle Pass, TX!

It was scouting all the hackberry trees looking for a place to roost and kept circling the cluster of trees that are always occupied by fall migrants.

Had my renter not had a failure of the old breaker and had we not been standing in the yard waiting for the electrician, I'd have never seen it! Absolute best $85 I EVER spent!

This is my first earliest spotted spring remigrant since 1979! Usually, rare but have seen one as early as March 16 in the past. With last year's first sighting on March 17th.

Eagle Pass, TX
