Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/02/2012

Number: 1

Ruby throat came earlier this year then prior years. I'm very happy about that. I noticed him at my side feeder very early in the morning. He had a very dark green back and ruby throat. I am lucky this year as I have had a rufous here for about a week and now the ruby throat. The rufous that came last winter was about to leave at this time for the west or whereever they go. The rufous and ruby throat seem to be getting along pretty well. Not much chasing or fighting around the feeders. I'm wondering if the red shirt I hung in the tree attracted the rufous here on his migration route. He is still here and I hope it stays around a while longer. I'm so happy to have the ruby throat hummingbird back probably until November or December here in Florida.
