Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/07/2012

Number: 1

Nine lovely monarch larvae are eating my butterfly weed patch in the front yard. I've had to place another smaller pot of butterfly weed inside the large pot because these 'babies' are eating up a storm and have a ways to go. They're each about 1-1/2 inches long. This is the pot from where another lovely butterfly recently emerged (previous report). Then, while I was watching them, a beautiful monarch butterfly fluttered by! No, it couldn't be Mommy! Could it? To be continued...
