Tulips BLOOMED

Date: 03/08/2012

Number: 1

Today Ms. Sires' third grade class, 3C, observed that 3 tulips out of 24 have bloomed. The tallest blooming tulip is 33 cms and the shortest emerging tulip is 1 cm. In all 20 have emerged out of 24. Students described the leaves as rubbery, one was enormous and measured 21 cms wide! One tulip had already lost all of its petals except one, which fell off when we watered it! Students observed that two of the tulips appear to have been partially eaten. Some of the buds were shorter than others and were shrivled up and may never bloom. One student's tulip that is the smallest has a double bud and other student's tulip has another one growing right next to it. Some blooms have green in them. One of the experimental tulips that we planted without a tunic had more colors in the petals.
