Monday (Mar 5), Altus and I watched a large, faded female move from the south to the north low over Asclepias asperula in our pasture in NW DeWitt Co., about 75 miles ESE of San Antonio. We watched it for about ten minutes as she covered an area about fifty yards by fifty yards low over the asperula, visiting most plants before disappearing off to the north. This is the third female in a week and we have yet to find an egg at this location or other spots picked at random in the pasture. Wildflowers are beginning to provide abundant nectar sources for butterflies. 8 photos ... 800 kB ... http://mcmc.homestead.com/mar72012.html
