We now have 100 tulips that have emerged in the front of Mechanic's Grove School in Mundelein. Most of the tulips are up about 3 cm, and still tightly furled closed. A few have started to unfurl, though, and have a pretty reddish edge to the leaves. We can hardly wait for the rest of our tulips to begin to come up. We hope that there is no frost in our near future, but you never know at this longitude. Spring can be fairly unpredictable, moving in fits and starts.
