Bald Eagle

Date: 03/10/2012

Number: 1

Commencing on Friday, 03/10/12 OVER 120 Bald Eagles (Mature and Immature) descended upon the LeSueur Water Treatment Ponds and Bucks' Lake where fish killed over the winter began surfacing. This continued in these numbers through Monday 03/12/12. (These water bodies are in the center of the Minnesota River Valley and close to the Minnesota River.) Many spectators were enthralled over this historic event, thus the numbers of eagles can be verified by photos and personal observations. At approximately 1:00 each day, huge kettles of the majestic birds rose and circled northward. Our local eagles (five nests) have been built, occupied and settled for about two weeks.
