Three beautiful red tulips bloomed this Monday in our test garden! We also have two experimental gardens, which have tulips planted at 5" and 9" deep. The five inch depth bloomed three days after the 7" deep tulips. The 5" and 7" bulbs both emerged at similar times and are growing at about the same rate. Only one of the 9" bulbs have emerged, and it is only a few centimeters tall. It emerged several weeks after the other two gardens.
Our temperatures here in Missouri have been in the 70's and 80's this week, which is unusual. Our normal highs are 60's around this time of year, but last year at this time, we had an ice storm! Our weather has been mild all winter with only a few days of cold.
