We've been experiencing unusually warm temperatures over the last few weeks causing any snow cover to melt much faster than normal. Many birds I wouldn't typically see have been randomly showing up in my backyard to peck around in the dead leaves of my backyard. One of these birds was a female Red-winged Black bird with a solid white bar on each wing. The next day, she appeared on the lawn with her mate. A sure sign of Spring! =)
