Seeing monarchs daily but not as many as last week.
Most of them are on the verbena..and upon closer observation we typically find that they are males
Have not seen as many on our milkweed lately.
I've attached a photo of what appears to be a male that was seen late today on the verbena
Initially saw him resting in the grass near the verbena.
The weather in the evening has gotten much cooler, in the upper 40s as opposed to the 60's
High's have been in the mid 70's and it has been breezy almost every day.
We had a significant thunderstorm 2 nights ago and got 2.5 inches of rain with very strong winds.
Most of the early eggs from last week have hatched and we initially saw some larvae.
Not seeing good survival rates on this first wave of eggs.
Still see a few larvae in the 2nd instar ..but quite a few aren't making it that far.
