Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/23/2012

Number: 1

Cont'd. ... from 3/13/12 sighting of 3 small green pupae attached to the house walls near their host butterfly weed plant. Watched them as they developed those lovely silver dots and just hung in there for 10 days...until today. This morning, one of the pupae was empty. The other two were dark brown, with the colored markings visible. First one, then the other butterfly emerged and stretched until both of them flew off. (One of the pupae had been suspended from the top doorsill of the kitchen door, so for over an hour this morning traffic through that door was banned while Ms.Papillon prepared for flight.) Bon chance, mon papillons!
