Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

I checked the fields at Choctaw Trails in SW Jackson, MS this afternoon and observed 6 females laying eggs on Asclepias viridis. I collected 48 eggs for distribution (and rearing) to elementary classes in the Clinton Public Schools. A few egg shells were also found and a single first instar larva was also present in the sample.
