Sightings report image

Date: 03/24/2012

Number: 1

On Thursday, March 23, this writer travelled to Niagara Falls, Ontario. I discovered many flowering trees and shrubs in bloom, including yellow forsythia shrubs and magnolia trees. I spotted wasps sunning themselves outside the Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory. North of the Falls, at Queenston Heights, many daffodils were in bloom. Near the Niagara River and the Falls, the temperature was cooler and the tulips, daffodils, and other flowering plants were a few days behind those seen further inland. According to the Niagara Botanical Garden blooming calendar, they are four weeks ahead of schedule after a number of days of record breaking temperatures.
