Visit to Niagara Peninsula Hawk Watch
Photo of turkey vultures. After I left, two very rare (for this area) Black vultures flew over.
The vultures "kettle" and get height with the thermals and fly westward along the Niagara Escarpment. Many, many other species of raptors fly over, including hawks and eagles. Observation station is in the centre of a clearing in the Beamer Conservation Area. One climbs up steep "Mountain Road" to get to the conservation area.
Located between Lakes Ontario and Erie, the Niagara winter temperatures get moderated by the warm lake water.
