Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/30/2012

Number: 1

Monarchs still passing thru but not to the degree we saw this past weekend

Most of the week the weather has been overcast and humid with some occasional rain

Some afternoon sun peeks thru and temps are in the low 80's during the day

Today is supposed to have more sunshine

We had a female monarch roost overnight on our screen window on our back porch

Got a few pictures of her before she opened her wings and fluttered away

Did not realize how damaged her wings were until she opened them

Quite amazing how these monarchs persevere on their migrations

We have many caterpillars in various stages on our milkweed

Looks like a few are in the last instar and are eating voraciously

Should see them heading for a spot to pupate soon
