-today was my first visit of the year to the Ferry Bluff Eagle Sanctuary, located about 4 miles west of Highway 12, on Highway 60. The weather was sunny, and cool, about 60 degrees F. I found a Karner Blue butterfly, male, that had recently died. After climbing the bluff, I came upon a group of people with binoculars, who had located an eagles nest, high in a tree, on an island in the Wisconsin River, about one mile to the east. I could clearly see a bald eagle on the nest, but I could not make out the fledglings.
