The milkweed has popped up everywhere in my area in the past 7 days - I have never seen so many eggs and larvae in all the years I have studied Monarchs in the field! The area that I have been observing is a new one to me (we recently moved) - we are high up on a hill just North of Comfort - there are several large, vacant lots (more like meadows) thick with wildflowers and swarming with all kinds of butterflies. In the past two days, I have counted at least 100 eggs and have seen 25+ larvae which I believe to be about 1-2 days old. I am in heaven! Right before sunset this evening, I realized I have milkweed in my own front yard. In the last few minutes of daylight, I found 5 eggs and one freshly hatched larvae! I have taken several pictures and will send them from my computer soon (no luck sending from this iPhone!)
