Bald Eagle
Sightings report image

Date: 04/01/2012

Number: 1

On Sunday April 1st, 2012 I saw an eagle land on a rock in the river. It then attempted to grab a big fish. It struggled quite aggressively for at least a minute trying to take off, but couldn't so it tried pulling it towards shore. It finally was able to pull it's self out of the water and take flight, but it must have let go of the fish, as it no longer had anything in its talons. I was able to snap a picture of him/her taking flight out of the water with empty talons and beak. He then took a perch in a nearby tree and dried off, while planning his next move.
