While playing at recess today, we saw a Monarch fly by. We are surprised because we haven't seen any milkweed emerging yet. I didn't personally see the monarch. My students came in from recess and were so excited, telling me that they saw one. I, too questioned them repeatedly. I have seen several butterflies, but no monarchs. Since they were so certain and so excited, I went ahead and reported it. We have spent the fall and again this spring studying monarch migration.
