Three monarch butterflies were seen in the garden. One seemed like it had recently emerged and appeared to to drying itself. It was a male. The other was flying around. It had very faded wings. the third one was flying around the back yard. The first two were photographed. Several eggs are on various the milkweed plants. Some have hatched and the caterpillars are at different stages of their growth. Here's a photo of a monarch that just emerged from its chrysalis that you can see on the left.
