Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/07/2012

Number: 1

Imagine our surprise to see a Monarch Butterfly last week! It seems rather early (4/7)- but we welcomed the beautiful arrival! Our spring has been HOT, in fact it feels more like summer.

I'm absolutely, 100% sure it was a monarch and not a Painted Lady. We haven't seen monarchs in years! We used to see Monarchs all the time when I was a kid in
Iowa - but I don't recall seeing them here.

My husband knows the difference between a Painted
Lady and a Monarch.  We both saw the Monarch last week (4/7/12) but he saw a Painted Lady early this morning (4/10/12). Landed right by him in the Burning Bushes!'
