I live just north of Roanoke VA and we have lots of wild milkweed. I see a lot growing in the median of the roads sometimes and I also transplanted some in my flower garden a few years ago. Yes, it is up about 12 to 18 inches tall (4/14). First emerged this year around the first of April. But everything is two weeks earlier this spring.
We are always on the lookout for the monarchs; Already seen the Yellow Tiger Swallowtail and the Black Swallowtail.
