March 20 saw first straggler - April 1 got VIDEO of 2 mating on a hackberry branch. Plenty of Antelope MIlkweed blooming now, I am observing for eggs. In 94 when I first moved here, thousands literally stopped here to overnight on underside of live oaks.
I've witnessed terrible decline in numbers, very few small groups now. I maintain frostweed for fuel in fall - it blooms when they migrate back south, but drought kept them to very few blooms last year. Rain has pumped up the milkweed, lantana and wildflowers so hopefully we will have a bumper crop of babies!
