Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/18/2012

Number: 1

Continue to see Monarchs moving northerly in central Oklahoma, at least one every other day. Starting to see more fresh looking Monarchs. Some have been too far away to tell. The 30 Monarchs that I brought in earlier as eggs or small caterpillars have recently been making their chrysalis, or almost are ready to. I still have about 10 eggs and about 20 caterpillars in various sizes. I am still finding fresh eggs and small cats on the showy and veridis mw at various sources where I have been collecting their food. The recent rains and cooler temps, and light winds have made for a lot of new growth and lush, fresh leaves. They are loving it! So unlike the drought & early heat of last spring. Others in Seminole and around the Tulsa area have reported having caterpillars also.
