Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/23/2012

Number: 1

About 10 minutes ago, 3:30 pm CST, I spotted my first Monarch butterfly, a female. She doesn't seem "worn". She was circling a dry creek bed surrounded by natural woods, resting occasionally on some shrubs which had been planted in previous years. There are few flowers or milkweed in this immediate vacinity. FYI - It’s about 66 degrees and clear. Tomorrow night we will hopefully be getting some isolated T-storms; we need the water although it has been a pleasant spring. More FYI - Last year I watched a Monarch fly in and looked as though it prepared to “rest” for the night in this same area.
