Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/24/2012

Number: 1

We were amazed to find monarch larva on our showy milkweed plants. In the 4 years we have grown milkweed, we have never seen larva (or monarchs)before mid-July & usually not before August or Sept. We cut our plants to about 2 ft last year because of spores & they are just beginning to leaf out now. But the showy & narrowleaf are up about a foot & the butterflies are laying on the showy.
