Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/24/2012

Number: 1

One worn monarch at the Visitor Centre. Earliest sightings at Point Pelee are always worn, indicating direct arrival from wintering areas in Mexico. Extremely fresh individuals of the "transit brood" normally do not begin to arrive here until the last 10 days of May. Prior to today's sighting, historically we have only one earlier record for Point Pelee: April 12, 1986.

Observations credited to Alan Wormington and Richard P. Carr and forwarded by Donald Davis.
