"Chunks of ice pile up along the shore as most of the ice on East Bay came off over the weekend. Some say it is the earliest ice off in recent history.
Long-time resident Helen Foughty has been keeping records of 'when the ice goes off on East Bay' since 1977.
She says the usual time for the ice to disappear is the last week in April. As far as she knows the ice has never disappeared in March.
