Saw the first Monarch of the season fly away from orange honeysuckle shrub ( in bloom) about 5 pm. Winds of 20 to 30 mph all day from South and temp 83 degrees with full sun. The butterfly was large and deeply colored - assuming fresh generation. Did not get close enough to determine if it was male or female. Our milkweed is 3 - 12 inches high in the yard.
