Three monarch eggs were found, on common milkweed, A. syriaca, at 6 pm. The eggs looked viable, and they appeared to be recently laid. There are quite a few milkweed growing at this location, at least 10. This is a southern exposure, near Lake Monona, and these particular plants were about 10 inches tall. The milkweed in our yard is only about 2 inches tall at this time. I have seen monarch butterflies flying along the Lake Monona shoreline in past years, so I suspect that it is a favored migration path.
