Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/03/2012

Number: 1

On a record high 87 degree afternoon, while on my way home, my husband called to say we had our first monarch visit! Luckily I was only moments away and our brightly colored female visitor was still there. She was very busy checking out the milkweed patch that grows near our front porch. She then started back through, laying eggs as she went. Most of her eggs were placed as expected on the underside of leaves, but in her excitement, also left 8 on leaf tops or stalks! My husband and I spent at least a
30 minutes tracking and checking her stops. She was so busy, we didn't see her stop any where to eat or drink. That was certainly a monarch on a mission. What a beautiful day!
