Cathy Palm-Gessner of Prescott was canoeing along the Verde River just south of Dead Horse Ranch State Park in Cottonwood when a vibrant-colored monarch flew above and into nearby trees. Unable to see gender. (Cathy used to enjoy the migrating monarchs when she lived in the Midwest.)
