Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/05/2012

Number: 1

Was hearing a repeated "churp" from an adult robin at intervals, but did not know what was up. Had just finished building a brush pile for later burning, when I had occasion to drag a hose out to water a tree I had just planted. As the hose disturbed the pile as it dragged past, the adult's repetitions became more insistent and a clumsy fledgling stumbled out of the brush pile! Amazing how quickly the young bird had taken refuge after the building of the pile. For subsequent days, I heard the parents chirp intermittent encouragement, but now I hear singing again, so perhaps the fledgling is "getting it" on his own now! Hope so...there are so many baby birds all over, flying into windows et al that I am a nervous wreck!
