It has been a very interesting spring. Since last Friday (May 4) there has been a flurry of egg laying by numerous females. By this afternoon, there was not a milkweed spot that did not have eggs, often several per plant. I even saw a mating pair yesterday and saw two males searching for females this afternoon. The females have been scouring every inch of territory, finding the tiniest, newest emerging milkweeds.........which they often choose over the larger plants. In past years, I have considered myself lucky to see one or two Monarchs in May. It is more like the normal July this year. The first generation has so far been very successful.
May the future fates be as kind..............
